Art Docent Talk | The Etruscans: From the Heart of Ancient Italy

Virtual Event (Zoom)
Wednesday, June 17 @ 7 PM

Discover the fascinating world of one of antiquity's most sophisticated yet overlooked civilizations! From the ninth to the second centuries BC, the Etruscans flourished in what is now Tuscany, Italy, leaving behind a breathtaking legacy of art, architecture, and engineering that profoundly shaped Western civilization — yet their culture remains largely unknown, overshadowed by the ancient Greeks and Romans. Join us for an engaging online docent talk exploring The Etruscans: From the Heart of Ancient Italy, the landmark new exhibition organized by the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco and the first major U.S. Etruscan exhibition in two decades.

Based on the latest archaeological discoveries and cutting-edge scholarship, this captivating presentation will take you through a stunning collection of objects — remarkable bronze and terracotta vessels and sculptures, opulent gold jewelry and other treasures, many on public view for the very first time. Whether you're a seasoned art lover or simply curious about the ancient world, this is a rare opportunity to explore a rich culture that significantly influenced the ancient Mediterranean world.
